Overview of Tonsillectomy and Adenoidectomy Surgery

A Tonsillectomy and Adenoidectomy (T&A) surgery is a common procedure performed to remove the tonsils and adenoids. There remove the small glands on each side of the throat or tonsils, and at the top of the throat behind the nose or adenoids.

This surgery is often recommended for children and sometimes adults who suffer from recurrent infections (such as tonsillitis or adenoiditis), obstructive sleep apnea, breathing difficulties, or other related health issues.

T&A requires general Anesthesia to make the patient sleep before the surgery begins. During the procedure, which is typically performed under general anesthesia, the surgeon uses surgical instruments to remove the tonsils and adenoids through the mouth.
